Glory Seed Devotionals, 2015: Year of Promise
From a desert place…
I am writing this morning’s Glory Seed from a desert place I’ll call “death valley,” a place where that seems to have been forgotten and abandoned by God. But I am not the first one to be here because the Psalmist wrote, “As a deer gets thirsty for streams of water, I truly am thirsty for you, my God. In my heart, I am thirsty for you, the living God. When will I see your face? Day and night my tears are my only food, as everyone keeps asking, “Where is your God?”” (Psalm 42:1–3, CEV) However, in my case while no one is asking me where God is I am not either because I know where he is, he is waiting for just the right moment to “show his face” and bless me according to his ultimate plan for my life.
If you’ve been here before or are in your own “death valley” right now then you already know we’d rather be somewhere else yet here we are. I don’t know about you but this is not my first time here in fact for some reason I am a frequent visitor.
I find this difficult to write because when I come “under fire” my first inclination is to think my faith is weak, falling apart, that something is wrong with me. But when I think being here from God’s perspective I discover there is something wrong with my faith – it’s not where God wants it to be so here I am back in “God’s faith building/strengthening school” where class is in session. And even though my anxiety level is running very high and my faith is being put to the test I can, at the same time feel my need for God running at an all-time high.
Yet in spite of my present surroundings I WILL hold fast to this promise. “For I know the plans that I am planning concerning you,’ declares Yahweh, ‘plans for prosperity and not for harm, to give to you a future and a hope. Then when you call me, and you come and pray to me, then I will listen to you.” (Jeremiah 29:11–12, LEB)
Believe! Anticipate! Experience! Be transformed!
Grace and PEACE, Amen!
