Sailing with the Peace of God…
“But there is more! Now that God has accepted us because Christ sacrificed his life’s blood, we will also be kept safe from God’s anger. Even when we were God’s enemies, he made peace with us, because his Son died for us. Yet something even greater than friendship is ours. Now that we are at peace with God, we will be saved by his Son’s life. And in addition to everything else, we are happy because God sent our Lord Jesus Christ to make peace with us.” (Romans 5:9–11, CEV)
I don’t have to tell you this. But I will. The most important day in my life occurred the day at the Silver Birch Mall Gary convinced me (he said it was the Holy Spirit because that’s what the Spirit does) God accepted me. And believe you me that was the hardest thing for me to do. I remember looking out the window at some poor soul who’d fallen on hard times and suddenly I saw my reflection in the window at the same time Gary said, “Crusty that could be you.” Instantly I turned and I’ll never forget what I said, “Gary, it is me. Can you say a prayer for me?” And we prayed right then and there. Then suddenly I felt a wave of peace come over me that has never left me and my relationship with Jesus has far surpassed that of friendship.
I am sure you’ve had a similar experience but I think it is worthwhile at times especially when things may not be going as well as they could that we turn back the pages of time and re-experience the time when the Holy Spirit first ignited the flames of Jesus’ Peace in our hearts. I have discovered when negative circumstances try their best to disrupt my life and conflict attempts to muscle itself into my heart the flames of Jesus’ Peace will slowly or rapidly turn them into ashes.
The ultimate human experience is sailing with the Peace with God and Jesus at the helm!
Walk in the Light with Jesus and you’ll never get lost!
PEACE be unto you!
Crusty T. Christian, the First
