Glory Seed Devotionals, 2015: Year of Promise
Spending time with God in the world of silence…

Are you spending enough time with God in the world of silence? Are you spending enough time on your devotional/prayer life?

“But whenever you pray, enter into your inner room and shut your door and pray to your Father who is in secret, and your Father who sees in secret will reward you.” (Matthew 6:6 LEB) While Jesus doesn’t use the word directly the sum of his 32 words adds up to – Spending time with God in silence.

Silence is bittersweet. Silence is deadly. Silence is scary. Silence is a fertile field for listening. Silence is one of the most effective ways God communicates with us. Silence is bittersweet for me because sometimes it terrifies me other times it is as they say “golden”. I have discovered that the world of silence is an entirely different world even though we may never leave the world we occupy. It is different because it is a world of seeing, touching, smelling, tasting, and self-assessing. It is a world of listening not hearing. Silence is not for the faint hearted.

For me the world of silence is filled to overflowing with God. But it not just the quieting of noise that opens the gateway to the world of silence it is “music of the spirit” that opens the gateway. The music of the spirit is created when we listen with “ears of the spirit” that quiets and focuses our spirit on the presence of God. For me personally the music of the spirit I find are hymns and songs done instrumentally. I listen to Abiding Radio’s (click here) instrumental channel about 90% of the time when I am knocking at the gateway to the world of silence. There’s no doubt your music of the spirit is a different genre then mine and that’s okay.

The world of silence is where we can pour our hearts out to God with the assurance that God not only listens in silence but will openly bless us with the Holy Spirit who will take matters into Jesus’ hands who is not only our Savior, Mentor, Healer, Rescuer, but is also LORD of the world of silence. “When Jesus woke up, He rebuked the wind and said to the waves, "Silence! Be still!" Suddenly the wind stopped, and there was a great calm.” (Mark 4:39 NLT) Spending devotional/prayer time are opportune times for the Holy Spirit to bless us with love, hope, peace, joy, and courage.

Believe! Anticipate! Experience! Be transformed!
Grace and PEACE, Amen!

Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that you may abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit. (Romans 15:13 LEB)
