Glory Seed Devotionals, 2015: Year of Promise
You can run from God but you can’t hide from God…
There’s little doubt in my mind at some point you’ve not heard or read the following scripture from Paul’s letter to the Romans. “And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God's love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow--not even the powers of hell can separate us from God's love. No power in the sky above or in the earth below--indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord.” (Romans 8:38-39 NLT)
Like I said I’m sure your familiar with it but have you been intimate with it? Have you allowed it to find its way into your DNA (Daytime, Nighttime, Activities)?
Not only does the apostle Paul tell us we can run from God but we can’t hide from God the Psalmist does as well. “I can never escape from your Spirit! I can never get away from your presence! If I go up to heaven, you are there; if I go down to the grave, you are there. If I ride the wings of the morning, if I dwell by the farthest oceans, even there your hand will guide me, and your strength will support me. I could ask the darkness to hide me and the light around me to become night— but even in darkness I cannot hide from you. To you the night shines as bright as day. Darkness and light are the same to you.” (Psalm 139:7–12, NLT)
Paul talks about God’s ever present love the Psalmist talks about God’s ever present presence. Now that you’ve encountered or re-encountered them this morning will you allow yourself the freedom to become intimate with them? Will you allow them to become part of your DNA?
You can’t run from someone without first turning your back on them. I remember my dad a World War Two veteran telling of a time when instead of running from God he ran toward God it happened in a foxhole in Germany, in a faraway land where God’s love and God’s presence became a part of a young Harley Piper’s DNA in response my dad gave his life to God. And I am so thankful for the Holy Spirit who has planted God’s love and God’s presence in my DNA as well.
Anticipate! Experience! Believe! Be transformed!
Grace and PEACE, Amen!
Gary
