Glory Seed Devotionals, 2015: Year of Promise
Don’t do it your way, do it God’s way…
Have you ever heard the song made popular by Frank Sinatra titled “I Did it My Way”? A verse toward the end of the song says, “For what is a man, what has he got? If not himself, then he has not. To say the things he truly feels And not the words of one who kneels…” I have heard it said that “I Did it My Way” was Sinatra’s theme song while that may simply be a rumor I’ve tried going it my way and it didn’t worked for me probably I experienced fame and fortune but under the ever watchful eye of God and presence of the Holy Spirit I have been able endure life’s problems and difficulties thus helping build Christian Character in me.
Isaiah writes, “For just as the heavens are higher than the earth, so My ways are higher than your ways and My thoughts higher than your thoughts.”
(Isaiah 55:9 NLT) My comment on that consists of 4 words ISN’T THAT THE TRUTH! If I lived my life my way I would live it “going with the flow” rather God’s way of “going against the flow, when it was the wrong way to go”. In case you’re getting the impression that God’s way means going without a lot of the “finer” things life has to offer it doesn’t mean that at all. What going God’s way does is help us discern fact from fiction when it comes to the “finer” things life has to offer such as happiness, joy, peace, and love.
The next time you are confronted with living your way or God’s way consider the life of Jesus as told in the words of Dr. James Allen Francis in “One Solitary Life”.
Here is a man who was born in an obscure village, the child of a peasant woman. He grew up in another village. He worked in a carpenter shop until He was thirty. Then for three years He was an itinerant preacher. He never owned a home. He never wrote a book. He never held an office. He never had a family. He never went to college. He never put His foot inside a big city. He never traveled two hundred miles from the place He was born. He never did one of the things that usually accompany greatness. He had no credentials but Himself...
While still a young man, the tide of popular opinion turned against him. His friends ran away. One of them denied Him. He was turned over to His enemies. He went through the mockery of a trial. He was nailed upon a cross between two thieves. While He was dying His executioners gambled for the only piece of property He had on earth – His coat. When He was dead, He was laid in a borrowed grave through the pity of a friend.
Nineteen long centuries have come and gone, and today He is a centerpiece of the human race and leader of the column of progress. I am far within the mark when I say that all the armies that ever marched, all the navies that were ever built; all the parliaments that ever sat and all the kings that ever reigned, put together, have not affected the life of man upon this earth as powerfully as has that one solitary life.
You may never accomplish all the Jesus accomplished but if you only help one solitary person live their lives God’s way you’ve lived life God’s way.
Anticipate! Experience! Believe! Be transformed!
Grace and PEACE, Amen!
Gary
