Glory Seed Guidelines

Notice – The ministries featured in this section of TheologyWeb are guests of this site and in some cases not bargaining for the rough and tumble world of debate forums, though sometimes they are. Additionally, this area is frequented and highlighted for guests who also very often are not acclimated to debate fora. As such, the rules of conduct here will be more strict than in the general forum. This will be something within the discretion of the Moderators and the Ministry Representative, but we simply ask that you conduct yourselves in a manner considerate of the fact that these ministries are our invited guests. You can always feel free to start a related thread in general forum without such extra restrictions. Thank you.

These daily devotionals are brought to you by Gary Piper, a writer with our Sister Site, Natural Spirit Ministries. TheologyWeb encourages you to visit and support their site.... they have many informative articles which can be discussed right here. If you enjoy Gary Piper's devotionals, please send him an encouraging note or post. We are very appreciative of our partnership with Natural Spirit Ministries and look forward to many more co-ventures.

Glory Seed Devotionals, 2015: Year of Promise
We do not live on bread alone…

“During that time the devil came and said to him, “If you are the Son of God, tell these stones to become loaves of bread.” But Jesus told him, “No! The Scriptures say, ‘People do not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.’”” (Matthew 4:3–4, NLT)

While it is true we Do NOT live by bread alone and it is true that we DO live by every word that comes from the mouth of God. The word of God says this about bread. “Give us today our daily bread…” (Matthew 6:11, LEB) One of my favorite sayings goes like this: “We do not live by bread alone, but we can’t live without it either.” The devil knew Jesus was hungry. The devil knows we get hungry too. The devil used Jesus’ growling stomach against his better judgment, in order to undermine his relationship with God. The devil also uses our appetite against our better judgment in order to undermine our relationship with Jesus.

When we go below the surface the devil’s confrontation with Jesus isn’t just about food it’s also about Jesus’ weakened physical condition after all he had been fasting for 40 days in a not-so-friendly-environment. The devil knows when we are hungry (not just for food) and physically exhausted like Jesus we’re vulnerable to the devils suggestions.

However, here’s what the devil refused to acknowledge Jesus may have been hungry and physically exhausted but because of his dependency on God he was spiritually strong. Jesus knew out of his dependency on God when he was weak God would make him strong. For the apostle Paul it was out of his relationship with Jesus that enabled him to write, “That’s why I take pleasure in my weaknesses, and in the insults, hardships, persecutions, and troubles that I suffer for Christ. For when I am weak, then I am strong.” (2 Corinthians 12:10, NLT)

Jesus was a name dropper, he used God’s name. Paul was a name dropper, he used Jesus’ name. We too can be name droppers because like Paul we KNOW Jesus and what we KNOW about Jesus will sustain us when we are at our weakest. “So don’t worry about these things, saying, ‘What will we eat? What will we drink? What will we wear?’ These things dominate the thoughts of unbelievers, but your heavenly Father already knows all your needs. Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need.” (Matthew 6:31–33, NLT, emphasis mine)

    Anticipate! Experience! Believe! Be transformed!
    Grace and PEACE, Amen!

Amen Gary! True and wonderful words!
3 For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received: that Christ died for our sins in accordance with the Scriptures, 4 that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures --1 Corinthians 15:3-4 (borrowed with gratitude from 37818's sig)
