Glory Seed Devotionals, 2015: Year of Promise
You are a resident of God’s house…
“I ask only one thing, LORD: Let me live in your house every day of my life to see how wonderful you are and to pray in your temple. In times of trouble, you will protect me. You will hide me in your tent and keep me safe on top of a mighty rock.” (Psalm 27:4–5, CEV)
Do not confuse God’s house (temple, and tent) with church. God’s house is where we live with God and God’s family, church is where we go to worship and glorify God and fellowship with other members. As we make our home in and live our lives out of God’s house with Jesus as a foundation we become the church, the body of Christ.
The apostle John tells us how we become God’s children and residents of God’s house. “Yet some people accepted him and put their faith in him. So he gave them the right to be the children of God. They were not God’s children by nature or because of any human desires. God himself was the one who made them his children.” (John 1:12–13, CEV)
DO NOT MISS THIS – GOD LOVES YOU SO MUCH THAT JESUS HIMSELF HAS MADE YOU HIS CHILD! And as God’s child you have the right and privilege of being a forever resident in His house! And God’s house will never be an empty nest!
There may be a time or two when you attend church and later wonder why you did so but there will never be a time when you’ll question your residency in God’s house. But don’t get the idea being a resident in God’s house is or will be a “walk in the park” because it will be some of the toughest work you’ll ever do. Peter didn’t write this out of his imagination. “Dear friends, don’t be surprised or shocked that you are going through testing that is like walking through fire. Be glad for the chance to suffer as Christ suffered. It will prepare you for even greater happiness when he makes his glorious return.” (1 Peter 4:12–13, CEV)
There is more to being a resident of God’s house than being tested and receiving the blessings and favor of God. “You may say that there are still four months until harvest time. But I tell you to look, and you will see that the fields are ripe and ready to harvest.” (John 4:35, CEV) Being a resident of God’s house means taking God’s word out in the “fields” where people are struggling.
Make no mistake YOU ARE A CHILD OF GOD and a resident of HIS HOUSE.
Anticipate! Experience! Believe! Be transformed!
Grace and PEACE, Amen!
