Glory Seed Guidelines

Notice – The ministries featured in this section of TheologyWeb are guests of this site and in some cases not bargaining for the rough and tumble world of debate forums, though sometimes they are. Additionally, this area is frequented and highlighted for guests who also very often are not acclimated to debate fora. As such, the rules of conduct here will be more strict than in the general forum. This will be something within the discretion of the Moderators and the Ministry Representative, but we simply ask that you conduct yourselves in a manner considerate of the fact that these ministries are our invited guests. You can always feel free to start a related thread in general forum without such extra restrictions. Thank you.

These daily devotionals are brought to you by Gary Piper, a writer with our Sister Site, Natural Spirit Ministries. TheologyWeb encourages you to visit and support their site.... they have many informative articles which can be discussed right here. If you enjoy Gary Piper's devotionals, please send him an encouraging note or post. We are very appreciative of our partnership with Natural Spirit Ministries and look forward to many more co-ventures.

    A Glory Seed Devotional
We are Students of Patience University…

“Lord, like a loving parent, you offer me your comforting hand. Help me to wait for your coming with patience and to listen to what you ask of me. I want so much to be one of “your people” and to live my life in you. Thank you for the way you bless my life. Thank you for listening to my prayers and for planting deep in my heart the knowledge that with you, nothing is impossible.”**

I’ve read the above prayer several times in order to get a “feel” for where I should go with it and each time I find myself “tripping” over two words wait and patience. Not because I am impatient but as ex-impatient person it reminds me of our continuing need for patience and the experiences that have nurtured the patience the Holy Spirit has birthed in me.

You probably already know this but in case you don’t or you’ve forgotten let me put this as simple and as clearly as I can – You cannot rush God, there will be times when all you can do is wait! “But those who WAIT for Yahweh shall renew their strength. They shall go up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not grow weary; they shall walk and not be faint.” (Isaiah 40:31, LEB, emphasis mine)

I became a lifelong student of Patience University (affectionately known as Ole PU) in the mid 1980’s when for the first time I underwent hip replacement surgery which turns out not only slowed my walking pace but as a “divine fringe benefit” (blessing) slowed the pace of my life down as well. Not only did the surgery itself teach me patience but all the years my surgeon spent in training to did as well. However, the greatest lesson in patience struck me this morning as I thought of Jesus’ birth and all the “silent” years and the transition from Jesus the son of Joseph the carpenter to Jesus the Son of God at his baptism by John.

Reflecting back on my years at Ole PU I am beginning to understand that we don’t really learn patience instead somehow the Holy Spirit births in us what the apostle Paul calls the Fruit of the Spirit. “God’s Spirit makes us loving, happy, peaceful, patient, kind, good, faithful, gentle, and self-controlled. There is no law against behaving in any of these ways. And because we belong to Christ Jesus, we have killed our selfish feelings and desires.” (Galatians 5:22–24, CEV)

One last thought… I’ve been an Ole PU dropout a couple of times and it ain’t pretty! My advice is stay in school!

    Anticipate! Experience! Believe! Be transformed!
    Grace and PEACE, Amen!
    Gary

Jesus said, “I am the light for the world! Follow me, and you won’t be walking in the dark. You will have the light that gives life.” (John 8:12, CEV)

    Amen Gary! True words indeed.
3 For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received: that Christ died for our sins in accordance with the Scriptures, 4 that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures --1 Corinthians 15:3-4 (borrowed with gratitude from 37818's sig)
