Glory Seed Guidelines

Notice – The ministries featured in this section of TheologyWeb are guests of this site and in some cases not bargaining for the rough and tumble world of debate forums, though sometimes they are. Additionally, this area is frequented and highlighted for guests who also very often are not acclimated to debate fora. As such, the rules of conduct here will be more strict than in the general forum. This will be something within the discretion of the Moderators and the Ministry Representative, but we simply ask that you conduct yourselves in a manner considerate of the fact that these ministries are our invited guests. You can always feel free to start a related thread in general forum without such extra restrictions. Thank you.

These daily devotionals are brought to you by Gary Piper, a writer with our Sister Site, Natural Spirit Ministries. TheologyWeb encourages you to visit and support their site.... they have many informative articles which can be discussed right here. If you enjoy Gary Piper's devotionals, please send him an encouraging note or post. We are very appreciative of our partnership with Natural Spirit Ministries and look forward to many more co-ventures.

    A Glory Seed Devotional
    Jesus Is First…

When Jesus saw him lying there and knew that he had been there a long time, he said to him, "Do you want to be made well?" The sick man answered him, "Sir, I have no one to put me into the pool when the water is stirred up; and while I am making my way, someone else steps down ahead of me." (John 5:6-7 NRSV)

For 38 years an unnamed man was only few feet from what he needed and because of his needs it remained out of reach. The haunting question is why wouldn’t someone help him? Were people so wrapped up in themselves they didn’t really see him? Was he so repulsive no one dared touch him? Or was there some other hidden reason? Perhaps a more important question is what impact can the account have on our lives? Consider this Jesus did not put the man in the water, there was no angel stirring up the water that healed the man, it was Jesus that healed him. Even though the man needed a healing he first needed Jesus.

Jesus was the man’s greatest need and with Jesus came the healing he needed. Your greatest need is Jesus! My greatest need is Jesus! Our greatest need is Jesus! I hope you never get tired of seeing those words because I will never tire of writing them. Unlike the man in the story above we do not live our lives in one small area waiting for something good to happen to us. Even though we may never travel hundreds of miles from our home we live in big world. Therefore we need someone we can believe and trust in who is BIGGER than big and the BIGGER than big someone is a bigger than life JESUS!

Thomas a’ Kempis in his book The Imitation of Christ writes of the importance of putting Jesus first, “The teaching of Christ is more excellent than all the advice of the saints, and he who has His spirit will find in it a hidden manna. Now, there are many who hear the Gospel often but care little for it because they have not the spirit of Christ. Yet whoever wishes to understand fully the words of Christ must try to pattern his whole life on that of Christ.”

JIF isn’t just the name of a jar of peanut butter – Jesus Is First and for the beginner or veteran Jesus believer it’s not only a way OF life it’s a way TO life.

    Believe it! Experience it!
    Grace and PEACE,
    Gary
