Praying IN Peace WITH Faith IN God…

“Then, because you belong to Christ Jesus, God will bless you with peace that no one can completely understand. And this peace will control the way you think and feel.” (Philippians 4:7, CEV) And because we have given our lives to Jesus he says, “I give you peace, the kind of peace that only I can give. It isn't like the peace that this world can give. So don't be worried or afraid.” (John 14:27 CEV)

Yesterday we examined one facet of praying IN peace this morning let’s take a look at what praying does in us. We do not believe in a long distance God. The God we believe in is present with us through the Holy Spirit. And because the Holy Spirit is also the living presence of Jesus wherever the Holy Spirit is there is peace!

There are times, or so it seems, when one of the hardest things we do is letting go of those things that “beat us up” it’s like we’ve lived in the dark so long that we think any other way of living is impossible. There may be other times when all we are looking for is a quick fix.

Prayer must not be out of a desire for a quick fix or out of hopelessness but out of a genuine longing for a transformed life. Praying IN peace goes beyond praying with words it is praying with emotions, with pain, with anxiety, with thankfulness, with hope, with vision, and with anticipation. The New Testament book of Jude provides us with sound and prophetic advice. “Dear friends, keep building on the foundation of your most holy faith, as the Holy Spirit helps you to pray. And keep in step with God’s love, as you wait for our Lord Jesus Christ to show how kind he is by giving you eternal life.” (Jude 20–21, CEV)

Praying IN peace is praying WITH God and is instrumental in building a life of faith, not faith just in a “can-do” God but in a God who IS. Praying IN peace WITH faith IN God is the way of transformed thinking, feeling, and living in the peace of Jesus.

Believe it! Experience it!
Grace and PEACE,
Gary
