A Glory Seed Devotional
The Eagle of Yahweh…
“For God has not given us a spirit of cowardice, but of power and love and self-discipline.” (2 Timothy 1:7, LEB)
Life is tough! But once we embrace the reality that life is no walk-in-the-park then we can discipline ourselves to ignore our ego telling us, “We can do this on our own we don’t need any help.”
I am not sure at what age I was when I finally realized that life was a whole lot tougher than I was. I remember walking back to the destroyer I was assigned to the night before we left for our Vietnam cruise thinking to myself that God wouldn’t let anything happen to me. And it didn’t, so that philosophy followed me until the day we were told I had Myasthenia Gravis a neuromuscular disease that weakens the muscles. Then from that day on I began to discipline myself to depend on the strength of the LORD and not my own.
When I think about my life, the words of Paul above, where I was, what has happened to me, what is happening to me, and where I am going 2 Psalms jump out of the bible and into my life. One is the Twenty-third Psalm and here is the other one.
“I lift up my eyes to the mountains; whence will my help come? My help is from Yahweh, maker of heaven and earth.
He will not allow your foot to be moved; he who protects you will not slumber. Look, he will not slumber and he will not sleep— he who protects Israel.
Yahweh is your protector; Yahweh is your shade at your right hand. The sun will not strike you by day, nor the moon by night.
Yahweh will protect you from all evil; he will protect your life.
Yahweh will protect your going out and your coming in from now until forever.”
(Psalm 121:1–8, LEB)
While God will protect you from things that can harm you he doesn’t keep you from those things but I sure when you find yourself surrounded by them if you will look up to the Mountain of the LORD’s house you’ll see the Eagle of Yahweh coming to strengthen and bless you with the courage to keep moving.
I’ve seen the Eagle of Yahweh! So I know you can too but don’t look with your physical eyes instead close them and look with the eyes of your heart!
Believe it! Experience it!
Grace and PEACE,
Gary
