A Planting of Faith Seeds for the Glory of the LORD
The story of the one who didn’t walk away…

Remember the story of the young wealthy man who walked away from Jesus? Well, this isn’t that story! One day a wealthy man decided it was time for him to get serious about his worship life. No one could doubt that on the surface the man had an active worship life after all he attended all church the services and always gave his fair share into the offering plate. He was always donating items to all the churches money making efforts. He even was instrumental in starting a community food bank. But with everything he did deep inside he still felt empty.

Then one night he prayed, “Jesus, I love you and out of my great love for you I have, or at least thought I’ve gone to great lengths to worship you by using my great wealth to bless people and further your church, yet deep inside I still feel empty. What more do I need to do? Amen!” The man then fell fast asleep.

Sometime in the night the man began dreaming that he was walking down a road all along the road people with tears in their eyes stood motionless as he passed them by each held up a sign that read “Thank you, but what about you?” It didn’t take him long to recognize that each person was one that he had helped. As he passed them by he would tell them they were welcome and then ask them what they meant by, “but what about you?” While they could not speak each of them pointed to his heart.

Then what seemed like hours later he spotted a huge golden gate and standing at the gate was an angel or what looked like an angel as he approached the gate he asked, “Is this the gate to heaven and are you St. Peter?” The man quickly replied, “It is and I am the way, the light, and the life.”

He then recognized the gatekeeper as Jesus. Soon the man became puzzled because Jesus did not open the gate. “Can I not enter Master? Have I not worshiped with my great wealth?” he asked.

“But what about you? You gave and worshiped with your wealth but what about your heart? When you truly worship you give not of your possessions but you give your life. Whosoever would enter heaven must not only give their possessions but they must also give themselves as well. It is not the gift the Father wants it’s the giver.”

Almost immediately the man woke up, jumped out of bed, fell to his knees and prayed, “You have my wealth Lord now take my heart.” Instantly the man felt more at peace within himself then he ever had before. From that day forward not only did the man continue to give of his wealth but he also made a point to become personally involved in the projects his wealth supported. He visited and helped the poor, the widows, the elderly, and the uneducated.

    Believe it! Experience it!
    Grace and PEACE!

    Amen Gary! Timely words again.
3 For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received: that Christ died for our sins in accordance with the Scriptures, 4 that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures --1 Corinthians 15:3-4 (borrowed with gratitude from 37818's sig)
