A Planting of Faith Seeds for the Glory of the LORD
A personal testimony and a question…
It is 6:40 AM and I am sitting at the mouth of the St. Clair River what I affectionately think of “Inspirational Point” when I started out this morning I wanted to see the sunrise. There will be no sunrise this morning! At least not one I will be able to see. But whether or not I can see it the SUN WILL RISE! The sun will always rise as it has done for millions and millions of years and it will continue to do so until God says, “Let there be a new heaven and a new earth!” And at that point the SON will rise and there will be a new heaven and a new earth.
There are times when seeing the sunrise for me is the “shot of fuel” I need to top-off my faith. Faith to me is the “fuel of life” if you’ve ever driven on the mountain roads of Tennessee you know you burn more fuel than driving on flat roads of Nebraska. Faith is the same way, the steeper the road of life becomes the faster you use up your faith (at least that’s how it works with me).
Sitting here I understand the mechanics of the earth spinning on its axis which causes the rising and setting of the sun. I understand that when the cloud cover is thick like it is this morning the chances of seeing the sunrise are slim to none. In addition I understand that while “seeing is believing” I also understand believing is different than faith, faith is believing without seeing. As disappointed as I am because I haven’t seen the sunrise when I look at the world around me I can see that it is much brighter now than when I first parked and turned off the key and began writing.
As I drove here I “wrestled” with God, throwing at him the Gideon wet and dry fleece story after all if Gideon got the proof he wanted why I couldn’t at least get a little glimpse of the proof I needed. I hope you can see why seeing the sunrise was important to me and I am sure you can also see even though I wrestled with God I lost.
But did I really lose? In a few minutes I will return home and get this ready for publishing. But before leaving I took the picture you see above as you look at it consider this. Even though I didn’t see the sunrise instead I experienced it which would you rather have happened to you – seeing or experiencing? Keeping in mind seeing the sunrise lasts only a few moments but experiencing the sunrise lasts until the sunsets this evening only to return the next day.
It is from the Light of Christ that we get our faith “refueled, topped off, and ready for the journey yet ahead!
Jesus is the Light, Hope, and Faith of Life!
Believe it! Experience it!
