Glory Seed Guidelines

Notice – The ministries featured in this section of TheologyWeb are guests of this site and in some cases not bargaining for the rough and tumble world of debate forums, though sometimes they are. Additionally, this area is frequented and highlighted for guests who also very often are not acclimated to debate fora. As such, the rules of conduct here will be more strict than in the general forum. This will be something within the discretion of the Moderators and the Ministry Representative, but we simply ask that you conduct yourselves in a manner considerate of the fact that these ministries are our invited guests. You can always feel free to start a related thread in general forum without such extra restrictions. Thank you.

These daily devotionals are brought to you by Gary Piper, a writer with our Sister Site, Natural Spirit Ministries. TheologyWeb encourages you to visit and support their site.... they have many informative articles which can be discussed right here. If you enjoy Gary Piper's devotionals, please send him an encouraging note or post. We are very appreciative of our partnership with Natural Spirit Ministries and look forward to many more co-ventures.

A Planting of Faith Seeds for the Glory of the LORD
    Time, God, you, and surrendering…

“The Holy Spirit led Jesus into the desert, so that the devil could test him. After Jesus had gone without eating for forty days and nights, he was very hungry. Then the devil came to him and said, “If you are God’s Son, tell these stones to turn into bread.” Jesus answered, “The Scriptures say: ‘No one can live only on food. People need every word that God has spoken.’ ”” (Matthew 4:1–4, CEV)

Jesus had gone 40 days and nights without eating and he was very hungry. In my opinion and from my own experience with food that is a huge understatement! If that had been me the Holy Spirit would have needed to drag me out of the wilderness.

Normally we would think Jesus was at the weakest point in his life second only to his hours on the cross. However, Jesus had been alone with God fasting and praying for 40 days and nights while he may have been physically weak he was definitely not weak spiritually! You can’t spend that much time focusing on God praying and fasting and be a spiritual weakling.

While it may be impossible for you and I to spend 40 days and nights alone with God praying and fasting there is one point we cannot and must not forget time isn’t a problem for God. “Dear friends, don’t forget that for the Lord one day is the same as a thousand years, and a thousand years is the same as one day.” (2 Peter 3:8, CEV)

Another way of looking at what Peter was saying is if God needs to he can cram a 1000 years into 1 day that breaks down to about God putting nearly 42.7 years into every hour. Because we are time bound and time mindful that may be hard for us to understand but I’ve discovered when SURRENDERING time to God we are on his “turf” subject to presence of the Timeless Holy Spirit.

Of course spending time with God is a great deal more than just bowing our heads and saying something like, “Here I am God bless me.” Please note the emphasis I placed on surrendering. Surrendering to God is not holding up a white flag surrendering to an enemy, surrendering to God is “laying all our cards” in Jesus’ empty tomb and praying, fasting, and listening to God.

It’s the quality of time with God not the quantity that really matters. Therefore grab your bible, find a nice quiet spot, turn on some inspirational music, turn your thoughts to God read, pray, worship, listen, and be blessed.

    Believe it! Experience it!
    Grace and PEACE!
    Gary
