A Glory Seed Devotional
Spiritual Cardiac Strengthening Exercising Experience…

“For God, who said, “Let there be light in the darkness,” has made this light shine in our hearts so we could know the glory of God that is seen in the face of Jesus Christ. We now have this light shining in our hearts, but we ourselves are like fragile clay jars containing this great treasure. This makes it clear that our great power is from God, not from ourselves.” (2 Corinthians 4:6–7, NLT)

Later today I will be in Cardiac Rehabilitation working at mending and strengthening my “troubled heart”. Not in my wildest dreams did I ever entertain the idea of needing to rehabilitate my heart because I never even considered the possibility of a heart attack. Whenever I talked to somebody or was told about somebody who had suffered a heart attack I always thought, “God wouldn’t allow that to happen to me.” I was wrong (almost dead wrong)!

Not at any other time in my life have I considered the importance the heart not only to my physical life but my spiritual life as well. Like most people up until last fall I took my heart for granted but all that has changed over the past six months or so. Now not only do I consider my own heart health (physical and spiritual) but others as well including my loved ones, my friends, my acquaintances, those who read my writings, strangers, and even my enemies. Which brings me to the importance of participating in Cardiac Rehabilitation Program (or some form a cardiac exercise if you’ve not had a heart attack) and especially a Spiritual Cardiac Strengthening Exercising Experience.

What is a Spiritual Cardiac Strengthening Exercising Experience? It is probably better known as “Spiritual Disciplines” so why am I attempting to rename something that has been around for quite awhile? For me SCSEE is more “finely tuned” to a specific goal mainly because the Heart is such strong physical and spiritual symbol intimately connected with physical life and spiritual life. For example in the New Living Testament the word heart is mentioned 591 times in 563 verses.

In a couple of hours I will connect myself to a heart monitor where a nurse will look after me as walk 2 miles an hour for 10 minutes on a treadmill spent 10 minutes on a recumbent bike and another 10 minutes on an upright bike. Already this morning with the Holy Spirit watching over me I “walked” about 20 minutes with the Holy Spirit in the bible. Then with Jesus taking his place in my heart I began preparing today’s Glory Seed Devotional. Of course interweaved between the two I brought God into my SCSEE though prayer.

Do you have your own SCSEE time?

Grace and PEACE!
Believe it! Experience it!
