A Planting of Faith Seeds for the Glory of the LORD
You are never alone…
Joy may come in the morning but God comes while it is still dark and stormy!
In chapter 5 of his First Letter Peter gives us words of warning. “…The devil, your enemy, goes around like a roaring lion looking for someone to eat. Refuse to give in to him, by standing strong in your faith…” (1 Peter 5:8–9, NCV)
Then immediately his words turn from warning to words of hope and comfort. “And after you suffer for a short time, God, who gives all grace, will make everything right. He will make you strong and support you and keep you from falling. He called you to share in his glory in Christ, a glory that will continue forever. All power is his forever and ever. Amen.” (1 Peter 5:10–11, NCV)
“And after you suffer for a short time, God, …will make everything right,” I understand what Peter is saying but where is God as we are suffering “for a short time,” are we to struggle with the devil all by ourselves? I don’t know about you but there are still times when it feels like I am in hand-to-hand combat with the devil alone. While it may feel as if we are alone the truth is we are never alone especially when fighting against overwhelming odds stacked against us by the devil or other sources of adversity that come with life.
The prophetic words of Elisha and prophetic experience Elisha’s servant prophetically reverberate from their time to our time and even beyond. “Elisha said, “Don’t be afraid. The army that fights for us is larger than the one against us.” Then Elisha prayed, “Lord, open my servant’s eyes, and let him see.” The Lord opened the eyes of the young man, and he saw that the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha.” (2 Kings 6:16–17, NCV)
In chapter one Peter gives us insight into God’s intent, depth, and source of the ministry and words of the prophets. “It was shown them that their service was not for themselves but for you, when they told about the truths you have now heard. Those who preached the Good News to you told you those things with the help of the Holy Spirit who was sent from heaven—things into which angels desire to look.” (1 Peter 1:12, NCV)
God’s revelation to each of us at any given moment in time or any situation, “You are never alone! Joy may come in the morning but I am present with you while it is still dark and stormy! Do not be afraid!”
Believe it! Experience it!
