A Planting of Faith Seeds for the Glory of the LORD
Life is like a Carnival Ride???
If someone were to ask you to describe life as a Carnival Ride which ride would you choose? A Ferris Wheel? A Roller Coaster? A Tunnel of Love? A House of Mirrors? A Tilt-A-Wheel? A Bungee Drop? A Fun House? A Spook House? A Train Ride? Or is there another one I’ve not mentioned?
Personally I would describe life as a Roller Coaster but not just one that goes up and down. Life is one of ups and downs, sharp turns, even twisting like a corkscrew at times, slowing down then speeding downhill at breakneck speeds. There are those who enjoy Roller Coasters however I am not one of them while I do not hate them I’d rather life be like on a slow train ride with an occasional valley and hill along the way.
However, basically in spite of my own personal I’d-rather-not-be-on-a-roller-coaster-life I am enjoying life and having fun after all carnivals are all about having fun aren’t they? I am having fun not because of the ups and downs, sharp turns, and twisting like a corkscrew at breakneck speeds but because of my ever present companion who continually whispers. “Do not fear, for I am with you; do not be afraid, for I am your God. I will strengthen you; I will help you; I will hold on to you with My righteous right hand.” (Isaiah 41:10, HCSB)
To John the Baptist and others Isaiah 40:3-4 was an introduction to the coming of Jesus but for me it not only affirms God’s continual presence in my life through my relationship with Jesus and the Holy Spirit but also promises me what Jesus does with my topsy-turvy life. “A voice of one crying out: Prepare the way of the LORD in the wilderness; make a straight highway for our God in the desert. Every valley will be lifted up, and every mountain and hill will be leveled; the uneven ground will become smooth and the rough places, a plain.” (Isaiah 40:3–4, HCSB)
Believe it! Experience it!
