Jesus did not command all believers to sell all and follow him physically. Only a subset were that kind of DISCIPLE

Lazarus was a follower and still retained his home (we know because Jesus stayed there from time to time)
believers were encountered by the disciples preaching in his name and Jesus told the disciples to leave them be
Nicodemus was a likely believer and is not said to have left his post

Actually, the truth is it depends on which gospel writer you are reading and which section of his gospel you are reading. Jesus' teachings are so jumbled that it is hard to tell what he really taught.

I didn't say NT scholars, I said educated secular society. Most NT scholars are either members of your cult or ex-members of your cult.
