  • A PRAISE - regarding our School Board

As some of you know, I began last year soliciting people to run for school board to replace some of the liberal "woke folk".

We selected good candidates, supported them, and in May, 3 of the 4 we backed won their seats. We were hoping for all 4, but the "loser" - an unknown - only lost by 36 votes to a very well known beloved police officer.

Long story short, our newly elected candidates have been doing a SUPER job of "slowing the roll" of the Superintendent and his liberal policies - asking questions, demanding evidence, refusing to go along with "here, vote on this 540 page legislative update without reading it - I have prepared a 3 page summary to tell you all you need to know". Our candidates, "yeah, No!"

Things were looking really good, the rest of the board was sitting up and taking notice and things were moving in the right direction.

I fell like my mission had been accomplished, so this morning in my 10 AM church leadership meeting, I advised them I am "retiring" from the school board fight and leaving it to others.
At our 2 PM PAC meeting, I shared the same message -- we need to find somebody else to run point, because I am "retiring" from the school board fight.

One hour later, the news broke that the Superintendent of Schools has RESIGNED!!!!!! He has announced he is "retiring" effective in December.

While I don't rejoice in his losing his job -- he simply was NOT the right man, and really needed to go.

The first to state his case seems right until another comes and cross-examines him.

It looks like things were no longer going his way so he quit.

I'm always still in trouble again

I began saying, about 2 months ago, that it looked like he was giving up.

He had overseen THREE failed bond issues, had really been pushing for this ISD Police Department (where he was gonna name one of his buddies the Chief), the newspaper called him out for denying an Open Records request for salary information (which is PUBLIC info anyway, but not published).... he had a tendency to make stupid decisions and he had convinced the board that their job was to kiss his butt and rubber stamp his nonsense.

The new board members we elected weren't playing that game, so yeah --- besides that, it's an open secret that he has involved in an inappropriate relationship with a principal not his wife. I think he knew that everybody knew.

The (then) board of trustees got candidate names for school board from the Texas School Board Association (a pinko commie outfit) and only got TWO names --- then they agreed to pay him WAY more than he's worth, and more than would be appropriate for our size school district.

Yeah, he needed to go -- while he's constantly giving lip service to how valuable our teachers are and how we need to do whatever it takes to keep them, he kept hiring his buddies to be assistant superintendents, security directors, media outreach people --- he kept building high salary positions in the central office, and now the budget is FOUR MILLION in the red.
The first to state his case seems right until another comes and cross-examines him.

So... a case of 'don't let the doorknob hit ya where the good Lord split ya' on the way out.

Yes, and the thot plickens --- I'm in close contact with the newspaper editor, and he just let me know that the president of the school board gave the news release to several radio stations and other media outlets, but not to the newspaper, and they are not responding to his requests for the news release.

The school board president is taking this very personally because the newspaper editor keeps pointing out their lack of transparency. How does she (the board president) respond? With more lack of transparency.

She is up for election next year, and, yes, she is putting a target on her own back*.

So, we have a Town Hall Meeting Tuesday evening (engineered by yours truly) where the School Board will have 3 board members to answer question the audience asks.
The editor of the paper will be the moderator.

I'm glad your school board is shifting the right direction. I hope it continues.

Tomorrow night will be our Town Hall Meeting, and they will hear more from the community.

I think one of the big issues is going to be salaries of "the biggies" in the "Central Office" as opposed to teachers and worker bees.

I think we do have a similar issue here: too much central office and not enough workers. Also, enrollment is declining but the central office isn't shrinking down.

                        OK, so MORE good news....

In a recent School Board meeting, the School's CFO was giving the report for the EOY financials, where it was widely known that the school was $2.4 MILLION IN DEBT on his watch....

He mumbled and muttered through his presentation to accept the final report for 2022-2023 school year, but one of the board members that WE ELECTED, called on him to stop a minute and ....

Our Board Member asked --- OK, wait, am I seeing this correctly... is our debt not 5.8 MILLION instead of the 2.4 or 4.6 as previously stated? The superintendent tried to explain it away as a number of "one time expenses", that would not be recurring, and, yes, the actual debt was now $5.85 MILLION.

Immediately, we began circulating a petition for a full State Audit of our District (doesn't cost us anything if the State does it).

Well, lo and behold, the CFO decided to announce his resignation, effective next week.

                        But, WAIT, there's MORE!!!!

I'm predicting that the Superintendent, who had already announced his "retirement" for end of December, will announce his resignation on Monday, subject to whatever vacation / sick time he has remaining.

This is a HUGE VICTORY for our community!!!!

I dropped by my old High School a couple years back and was surprised they now had 12 principals. When I went and the student population was higher (we had to go in shifts until they built a new school) there were 4.

Too many chiefs for the number of Indians.

Probably should confiscate their passports before they mysteriously disappear to a non-extradition country by the time the audit is done.

I was pretty much the lone ranger when we started this fight, but there has been such a groundswell of grassroots support that I have to step out of the way so I don't get run over.

                              I'm lovin' it!
