I joined because of JB telling me how badly the Mormon posters were representing my religion...

FWIU, New Englanders were well known for their copious appetite for rum back in Colonial days.

    18 for both here.

There was this idea back then that if we could draft someone and send them off to fight and die for their country at that age then they should also be allowed to have a beer.

I'm glad TWeb is here for those who want discussion as they try to find and grow in Christ. But I think those numbers are declining.

I pledge that I will try to more often participate in Christianity threads even if the topic isn't of interest.
I'm not much of a topic-starter, and the topics that most interest me -- Charismatic/Pentecostal issues and Patriarchalism/Hierarchical-Complementarianism vs. Egalitarianism/Mutualism/Non-Hierarchical Complementarianism -- have been fairly well trod, and can generate more heat than light.

And I agree with you that we are prone to define ourselves by our political beliefs. Although we can't let those beliefs completely define us, the fruit of our lives should show in our ideologies regarding what is right in GOD's eyes, and that means we have to take a stand in this sin-sick world through which we are travelling.

There! A bit of a theological discussion!

Unfortunately that's nothing new, although it does seem more pronounced as of late.
